YOUR ROLE

You will be responsible for supporting the accounting, reporting and financial analysis of Genworth's fixed and variable annuity products. This includes but is not limited to recording journal entries on a monthly basis, performing variance analysis on U.S. GAAP and statutory bases of accounting, other monthly and quarterly close responsibilities, annual statutory reporting and contributing to process improvement initiatives.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monthly and Quarterly Close - As part of the larger Genworth close, the Life and Annuities Controllership team maintains their own close for U.S. GAAP and statutory reporting bases. You will be responsible for collaborating with the fixed and variable annuities Financial Reporting Manager to complete the accounting and reporting, financial analysis of results, and communication of that analysis to the Director, Life & Annuities Financial Reporting
  • Internal Reporting - You will be responsible for reporting certain insurance activities to internal parties and must be able to produce timely reports and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Year-End Reporting - You will assist the fixed and variable annuities Financial Reporting Manager with various U.S. GAAP and statutory year-end reporting requirements and analysis (including but not limited to statutory annual statements, statutory audited financial statements and other reporting supplements).
  • New process implementation/process improvement initiatives - You will be responsible for the testing, implementation and on-going maintenance of new or redesigned workflows, including changes due to new U.S. GAAP guidance on long-duration insurance products.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Accounting/Finance
  • Annuity product financial analysis or accounting experience
  • Statutory accounting/analysis/reporting experience
  • Proven and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Orbit, TM1 and the chart of accounts/general ledger
